YCLA - Another Huge Hit

This year marks as the 11th year of YCLA, the Young Caymanian Leadership Award.  This annual event is attended by Cayman's top business  and community leaders ... all eager to witness the announcement of this highly-coveted award.

This year's YCLA tagline was Dare to Be. In keeping with the tagline, we knew we had to come up with something bold, fun and uniquely memorable.  We searched for inspiration...something, someone or somewhere, anything...that would fully embody the brave and bold tagline.

Then inspiration hit! Andy Warhol! Popular for his pop art and for painting something as trivial as a can of tomato and making it into a piece of art, Andy Warhol is the epitome of daring!

We took a  "Andy Warholesque" approach to the entire look and feel of the event.

Starting with the photos of the five finalists were taken by the very talented David Wolfe which was then transformed into modern pieces of art by John, a graphic artist. These portraits came in several variations and were used from the programmes to the stage back  drop.

Josephine & Stephen : A Uniquely Elegant Cayman Wedding

She dreamed of a wedding
of elaborate elegance,
A church filled with family and friends.
She asked him what kind of wedding
he wished for,
He said one that would make
her his wife.
- Author Unknown

When Josephine and Stephen came to Celebrations, they both knew from the onset that their wedding should be a true reflection of their personal style... elegant and bold.

Their inspiration? Peacocks! Why? Because Peacocks have the most beautiful collection of colours in one area that nature has to offer. Such rich and vibrant hues!

Needless to say, we were thrilled to be working on a peacock-inspired wedding and to create the dream wedding of this trendy couple. The colours alone are just oh so yummy!!!! Teal, purples, lime greens and golds. Soon after our creative minds started ticking, visualizing how we would realize this retro chic wedding.

We started with the church. Being that the couple are both coming from families with strong Christian background, a church ceremony was a must. The entire aisle was covered by sheer canopy strung with irridiscent beads, blue Dendrobium Orchids and a lots and lots of white dreamy fabric!

For her bridal bouquet, Josephine chose an elegant collection of premium green roses, jewel accents, customized and uniquely designed with peacock feathers.

One of the unique elements of the wedding were the bridesmaids' bouquet of tight clusters of lime green mums surrounded by teal ostrich feathers. When held against the bridesmaids' "African Violet" dresses the colours just popped. The groomsmen wore coordinating lime green ties with peacock down feathers in their
boutinieres.

For the wedding reception, to bring in an elegant flair to this wedding, we've installed huge gold beaded chandeliers from the fully draped ceiling.

The tablescape comprised of towering gold candelabras filled with lime green and purple flowers, swags of jewel and peacock accents. Small gold beaded votives dotted the tables as well. Golden frames were used as table name holders and each place setting was adorned with purple or teal napkins embellished with peacock feathers, beads and cords.

The cake, made by Celebrations' very own Ann Ogden, was a hummingbird cake made with bananas, pineapples and pecans with cream cheese icing.

The sweetheart table featured long and low floral centrepieces of cymbidiums, hydrangeas, dendrobiums, roses and lots of peacock feathers! To add also to the retro-vibe, antique gold candle shades were also used.

Here's more fab shots of some wedding details.

Thank you Josephine and Stephen for giving us this wonderful opportunity to create your elegant and vibrant wedding.

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Hislop!!!
