Wedding Trends for 2008

Destination Weddings. Formerly the exclusive domain of celebrities and the ultra-rich, Destination Weddings have in recent years become accessible to more and more couples looking to add an "exotic twist" to their special ceremony. Properly planned, a destination wedding can not only save you money off the cost of a traditional wedding, it can also turn your wedding day into an unforgettable "mini-vacation" for you and your guests. This year this trend is stronger than ever and the Cayman Islands have become one of the front runners for the discerning couple looking premiere locations and for destination weddings that are stylish and unique.

Local Attractions for wedding locations. The Botanical Garden, Pedro St. James Castle, Seven Mile Beach, Stingray City, Rum Point, private villas, all these are prime locations for a unique weddings. More couples are looking at attractions and distinct settings for a more customized wedding event.

Lush & Luxe. Size does matter. Event designers and brides alike are teaming up to create showstopping floral arrangements, such as those seen during the days of Marie Antoinette. This move toward French opulence means more petals, blossoms, candles -- even feathers! -- as centerpieces go from simple and low to towering and lush. Gilded place settings, brocade linens, and hand-painted invitations complete the elaborate look.

Eco-friendly and organic weddings. From pesticide-free flowers to serving organic menus in the catering department, having a green wedding is both environmentally conscious and personal choice. More couples are choosing natural fabrics and sustainable foods for their wedding day, and some are even giving their wedding gifts as donations to favorite charities. Dazzling Decor. Pattern will pop up everywhere this year from the invitations, to the menu cards, to the linens and even on the gobos on the dance floor!

Bold Colors. Far from the standard white, cream, and pastels, stronger hues are making an appearance. Blue will be strong but will be matched more often with metallics such as gold, silver, gray & platinum. Brides are now seeking bolder statements with stronger wedding colors, including rich purples, golds, oranges, and reds. The increasing influence of Asian cultures will play a role in these stronger color choices. All shades of purple will be popular.

The Chocolate Fountain Centerpiece. This has become a popular addition to many catered parties and events, and continues to draw a crowd to the table with melted chocolate and plenty of dipping fruit.

Exotic Influences.Moroccan influences are strong this year and can add splashes of culture and historical character to your wedding. The reception area can be transformed through the use of dramatic, jewel-toned colors, lovely exotic patterns and elegant, textured fabrics. To add a subtle Moroccan flair to your wedding, incorporate statement pieces like handwoven rugs (placed on the floor or hung up on the wall) and intricately designed, heavy wooden or wrought-iron furniture. Use a rich and vibrant colour scheme of oranges and reds or deep blues and sparkling greens. For accessories, it’s all about excess. Use fabrics in abundance and place oversized pillows generously throughout your wedding reception to create your own Moroccan oasis. Personalized details, Signature drinks, Family Recipes Abound. Nothing is spared to customize this year's weddings. Monograms and patterns will be everywhere. Menu items will be more colorful than ever before. More ethnic themed dishes will delight your guests. Middle Eastern, Latin and Mediterranean themes are the ones to watch for. An elegant addition to the cocktail is the inclusion of ports and cheeses alongside delicious chocolate treats. It's stylish to dress up your drinks too! With all these exciting trends, we are looking forward to another great year of creating your own one of a kind wedding. It's certainly another opportunity for us to make all your wedding dreams come true!!!!
